We are honored to recognize the life and legacy of Dr. John Hayden Hollingsworth, a man who was devoted to serving his community and his faith. After moving to Roanoke, Virginia as a young physician, Dr. Hollingsworth co-founded the first practice in Southwest Virginia devoted exclusively to cardiac care. In 1999, he received the “Heart of Gold Award” from the Roanoke Valley Chapter of the American Heart Association for his contributions to the health and well being of the community. During his lifetime, he also served as a Founding Board Member of Roanoke Area Ministries and on multiple boards including the American Red Cross and United Way.
In addition to his contributions in medicine, Dr. Hollingsworth was known for his love of family and friends, the care and compassion he brought to the practice of medicine, and his warm spirit. To honor his life and legacy, his daughters made a $28,000 gift towards the International Orthopedic Trauma Collaborative. We are humbled by this contribution and are committed to carrying his legacy forward. Thank you, Dr. Hollingsworth — your generosity will be felt by patients across the world.
