In the rural outskirts of Ambo, an elderly mother of eight suffered a fall, resulting in a life-threatening hip fracture. The severity of her injury necessitated swift orthopedic intervention. However, the surrounding drone warfare and absence of nearby healthcare facilities precluded any possibility of immediate hospital access. With dwindling options, the patient’s family sought at-home care from a local bonesetter, but after six weeks of treatment with no signs of improvement, they concluded that hospitalization was vital for any tentative chance of recovery.
For three hours, the patient’s family carried her on a stretcher to the nearest hospital. Upon examination, the hospital referred the patient to Ambo to receive care from an orthopedic specialist. However, following her arrival in Ambo, the case’s severity, paired with the overcrowded conditions of the facility prompted a third referral to Abbott Hospital.
The patient promptly underwent hip surgery in AaBET. Post-surgery, she expressed significant improvement, reporting reduced pain and improved mobility in and out of bed.
